Content Convergence & Integration 2008
Session: User Generated Rich Media: Make It, Manage It
Description
Content in a Web 2.0 world comes from many sources and goes to many places. User-generated content is one of the more challenging content sources. It makes the hundreds of channels on cable television look tame. But for large and small enterprises and organizations user generated content can be part of a cure that leads to wider knowledge sharing. During this session you'll learn what user generated content is and can be. You'll get some background on the techniques and technologies you'll need to enable it. And maybe most importantly, some ideas you can use to keep user generated content under control and channel its power to achieve your communications, training or marketing goals.

More About Making It Than Managing It
Todd O'Neill did a strong presentation on how to make rich media. The speaker introduced us to a few of the software apps (e.g., Videocue Pro) that can enhance the already powerful media tools on the average laptop. These tools, when combined with a flare for structuring content, give the individual access to media communications formerly available only to billion $ companies. What was lacking in the talk was as in depth a look at how to manage the content. The speaker said, "You Kant Stop It!". What I wanted to know more about was how to manage it once it's out there. |
